2018 Morristown ICE Raid

April 5, 2018 served as a catalyst for our advocacy work, when we led the response to the nation's largest Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raid nearly a decade. 97 people were detained. With the help of St. Patrick's Church and the Tennessee Immigrant & Refugee Rights Coalition, HOLA was able to provide help from the community and legal services, as well as raised over $120,000 in donations. These funds helped to pay for the basic needs, bail bonds, legal fees and transport for the affected families. Through that tragedy, we found our voice and our place in the community helping others. Although it was one of the most difficult times we've experienced, it also demonstrated a beautiful sense of solidarity and empowerment in the Lakeway community.
